As of January 1, D’Alessandro is also principal investigator (PI) of the ERC project
Microcontact. Language variation and change from the Italian heritage perspective. In this project, she investigates the theoretical aspects of contact-induced syntactic change in languages that are minimally different from a grammatical point of view, such as the heritage Romance languages of Italy (Abruzzese, Neapolitan, Piemontese, Salentino, Sicilian, and Veneto) and the Romance languages of the Americas (Spanish, Portuguese and Québécois French).
Her interests include Italo-Romance syntax, dialectology, linguistic variation, syntax-phonology interface, and agreement phenomena.
