Shahzad Nabi is an English language lecturer at the University of Management & Technology (UMT), Lahore, where he has taught since November 2022. He holds an MPhil in Applied Linguistics from UMT (2018â2020), with a thesis on the discourse of fear and Sinophobia in the social semiotic representation of Covid-19 in English-language newspapers. During his time at UMT, he was a two-time Rector Merit Award winner for academic excellence at the Department of Linguistics and Communication. He is an active researcher, with publications on topics including media discourse, phonemic analysis, and critical discourse analysis, and has presented his work at national and international linguistics conferences.
